One of my favorite San Francisco Bay Area events, the Oakland Museum White Elephant preview sale, is right around the corner! The museum takes donations all year round and then at the beginning of the year, they host a much-anticipated sale. There is anything and everything at these sales, a real treasure hunter’s dream.
They’ve just posted some sneak peek photos from the upcoming event, which happens on Sunday, January 25th, 2015.
Here’s some of the best picks, imo:
A vintage Howdy Doody lunch box, circa mid-1950s
Ferrari pedal car (1960s)
Lady pig cookie jar (1940, Shawnee), and a gentleman pig cookie jar (1959, McCoy)
Ferragamo and other designer ladies shoes
Merry Mushroom ceramic canister set (1979, Sears)
Vintage mid-century furniture
Tickets for the big Oakland Museum White Elephant PREVIEW Sale are available at the door the day of the sale for $20 each (kids under 12 are free). This is not to be confused with the main sale in early March which is free to attend.
I know from experience that the line forms early, even for ticket holders, and it is usually cold out there, so plan accordingly.
When: Sunday, January 25, 2015, 10 am – 4 pm
Where: 333 Lancaster Street, Oakland CA 94601
p.s. Check out this map of the warehouse’s floor plan. It will help you plan out your shopping route.
