The 1976 sci-fi movie Logan’s Run is something of a cult classic. It’s set in a future Utopia where all the residents are young and beautiful, and their every desire is met, but with one catch: they must be terminated upon reaching age 30. In the film, actor Michael York decides to run for his life and find the fabled Sanctuary that exists outside the city. (I’m not going to tell you how it ends; rent it for yourself if you want to know!)
To get a feel for it, here’s the film’s original trailer:
On Saturday, February 8th, a group of individuals known as the “Multiverse Council” will be hosting a live-action street game in downtown San Francisco based on Logan’s fabled run. The game is organized like another game called Journey to the End of the Night. Participants will walk (and occasionally run) about 1-2 miles total during the event, so comfortable shoes are required. You can join in! Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
When your lifeclock turns black, will you accede to the mandatory euthanization ritual of Carrousel, or will you run? Search the corners and nooks of the City for the secret of Sanctuary. Discover strange sights and hidden peoples, some trustworthy – some not – all while evading ruthless squads of Sandmen searching for Runners at every turn.
