Found in the trash, an entire Toys “R” Us Christmas newspaper supplement from 1972

“Turn her head, she looks sadder. Soon she starts to cry real tears.”

Earlier this year I went to a great estate sale here in my (adopted) hometown of Alameda, California and outside of the estate’s house, I noticed a Toys “R” Us Christmas newspaper supplement sticking out of a trash bin. Naturally, I snatched it out of there! Just this week, I got around to scanning in all the pages. It’s from 1972 and it’s full of all kinds of gems. Take a look!

Like…

“BIG PHOOEY” & “GRANNY WALKER”:

“GIANT TINKER TOY” (Yes, I’d say they are GIANT! Look at how small that kid is!):

“Kids Grown-Up Toys”:

“Train not included.”

IS THE WATER CLEAN, a fun game for kids of all ages.

This is a “truly outstanding authentic detailed painting”:

Milton Bradley’s SEANCE GAME: “weird”:

“CHICK-U-BATOR”–“See Life Begin…Before Your Eyes”:

And the crème de la crème of the whole thing…

HOT PANTS: “Join the ‘Mod’ generation. This Christmas eve, hang lace trimmed hot pants and fill with small toys, candy, and cookies”:

See the entire set of scans of this newspaper supplement at my Flickr page.

Happy Holidays!!!
