I’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 20 years and today was the very first time I went up to the top of the Campanile (aka Sather Tower) on the UC Berkeley campus. The view was amazing!
Visible for miles, it stands 307 feet tall and is the third tallest bell and clock-tower in the world. The observation platform, located 200 feet up, provides visitors with a spectacular view of the entire Bay Area and of the campus. It is reachable via the combination of an elevator and stairs. The Campanile was completed in 1914…
Even if you don’t take a tour, you can enjoy the music of the Campanile’s set of bells, called a carillon, from all over campus.
